Parents

CFE—scheduled annually on the first Friday of November—is the primary fund raiser for Community Montessori School (CMS) and Montessori Middle School of Kentucky (MMSK). The proceeds from this event are used to defray the cost of your child’s tuition and are also distributed to the scholarship and endowment funds for long-term planning. CFE has grown substantially over the past 28 years. Initially attended by only the staff and families of CMS, CFE now hosts more than 1000 people from a broad cross-section of the Bluegrass. CFE is a black-tie optional, elegant evening where you and your guests will enjoy fine food, silent and live auctions, live music featuring “The Bats,” dancing, and an excellent opportunity for professional networking. In years past, CFE has been described as “the holiday kick-off party” and Lexington’s “premiere party of the year.”

This year’s event theme will be “celebrating 100 years of Montessori";2007 marks the Centenary of the Montessori movement. One hundred years ago, Dr. Maria Montessori opened the first Casa dei Bambini (House for Children) in San Lorenzo, Italy. Today, the Montessori movement is still going strong—this is something to celebrate!

The active participation of our parent body is crucial to the success of this event. Please review the information in the Parent Packet, mark your calendar with the important dates listed on the Parent’s Guide to CFE, and prepare to make CFE 2007 the best celebration yet!

We encourage you to visit the CFE website (www.celebrationforeducation.com) as often as possible during the weeks preceding CFE. Members of the CFE committee will keep it updated with information regarding the event, and additional forms will be available for download and print. A CFE newsletter will also be circulated; be sure to check your child’s book bag on a regular basis.

CFE is FUN! As parents, you will be proud to be hosting this spectacular event. If you have any questions, please contact a CFE Committee Member or someone from the CMS office.

Cheers!
